What is the procedure to start a Vlocity engine? |
Traction engines should only be started from the drivers cab. The auxiliary engines must be started before the traction engines can be started. To start the traction engines: - Activate the cab - reverser in NEUTRAL position - turn switch to START position – engines will prime for 30 seconds and then start one at a time - The traction engine not running light will extinguish once all the engines have started - fault lights will extinguish progressively as engines start-up and the tacometer will show engine revs as each engine starts |

When should you shut down a Vlocity units engines? |
All engines should be shut down when a velocity unit is stabled unless they will be required within the next 20 minutes or if there is a reason for leaving them running eg low battery voltage or repair work is about to be performed. The engines will shut down automatically after 20 minutes when both cabs are deactivated – the engines will restart once a driving cab is reactivated. |
