-jefferson doesn't elect him as his vp during his 2nd term.
-He gets upset leaves ad goes back to NY to run for governor but doesnt win.
-gets in a duel with Alexander Hamilton where he kills him by shooting twice. Hides and is later found by military. He is put on trail but a federal judge gives verdict and is found not guilty.

Aaron Burr vs. Alexader Hamilton
-meet int he woods, have two guns, its a secret, hamilton shoots first but shoots 2 times in the air. burr shoots hamilton 2 times int he chest. burr is a wanted men, he leaves and hides with indians in Arizona. Militia later finds him, he is put on trial and found not guilty by a federal judge

-French Dictator
-sells the entire louisiana territory for 15 mill to the U.S. because he needs money for the war with england.

-Jefferson buys it for 15 million to Napoleon
Meriwether Lewis & William Clark
-1805-06 start expedition
-are chosen by Jefferson to lead the expedition to explore the new land known as the Louisiana purchase across the Mississippi river.
-have great success, they send jefferson boxes of plants, fur, crops.
Embargo Act
Act passed by congress that prohibits exportation. U.S. would not trade with England or other countries if they didn't pay the high taxes imposed. But it backfired by hurting our economy and ports

-good friend to jefferson
-doesn't like the banking system because of corruption
-he enherits problem w/ britain but does not go to war.
