REFUELING DRILL

PRECAUTIONARY LANDING DRILL

PRE-MEDITATED EVACUATION DRILLS
Captain will brief and give instructions to No1 whether or not to enter flight deck
No 1 should expect:
1. Type of emergency
2. Estimated time remaining in the air
3. Any factors that may affect escape exits or routes such as exits used and obstacles on the ground
4. Method to be used to brief the cabin crew to initiate "brace, brace" command to passengers
UNPLANNED EMERGENCY EVACUATION DRILL
1. Prior to impact shout "HEADS DOWN, KEEP LOW"
2. Once aircraft is at a complete halt shout "OPEN YOUR SEATBELT"
3. Check and open assigned exits
4. Shout instructions "THIS WAY", "THIS WAY OUT","JUMP AND CROSS YOUR ARMS","MOVE AWAY FROM THE AIRCRAFT","HELP OTHERS ON GROUND" and "STAY TOGETHER"
5. After all passengers believed evacuated, check toilets, cabin and flight deck
6. Do not leave the aircraft until everything possible has been done to get passengers out
ABORTED TAKE OFF DRILL
1. Wait until the aircraft has come to a complete stop
2. Captain will make a PA
3. No1 to contact flight deck on more information
4. Cabin crew to remain seated and check for hazards
5, No1 to make a follow up PA to passengers
6. Cabin crew to monitor pax reaction/distress
7. Cabin crew prepared for an evacuation
ABORTED LANDING DRILL
1. Cabin crew to stay seated in full harness and monitor cabin
2. Captain will make a PA
3. No1 to contact flight deck for more information
4. No1 make follow up PA to passengers
5. Cabin crew to monitor pax reaction/distreess
6. Cabin crew to mentally review evac procedures
FIRE DRILLS
1. Inform flight deck of situation (source, severity and location)
2. Co ordinate with cabin crew
3. Crew who discovers fire or is informed is the Fire Fighter and must immediately tackle the fire
a. identify the type and source of fire
b. switch off any electrical equipment
c. remove neck scarf, collect appropriate equipment
d. attack fire immediately
e. attract attention of second crew member (communicator)
4. Communicator must inform captain of situation:
who is speaking and where from, where the fire is, how many extinguishers have been used, reaction/situation of passengers, take back up fire fighting equipment to the "fire-fighter", remove portable oxygen from the area, move passengers as required
5. Crew must alert captain of:
Source, colour and quantity of fumes or smoke and how it is affecting passengers. Captain will check all instrumentation and take appropriate action.
6. If dense smoke is being generated, cabin crew must don a PBE before entering fire area. (DO NOT USE PORTABE OXYGEN IN FIRE FIGHTING SITUATION)
7. Cabin crew to instruct pax "get down on floor and cover mouths and nose with WET handkerchief"
8. If smoke is widespread, the pax should be moved from the affected area,
9. Smoke is a product of fire. If no visible signs of flames check the area to see if heat is present,
10. Find area of heat and remove all combustible materials i.e luggage, oxygen bottles, carpet
SMOKE REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. In life threatening situations due to dense smoke inhalation cabin crew may call the flight deck via the inter-phone and consider implementing the aircraft smoke removal procedure
2. This procedure will involve the aircraft descending to the lower altitude where the cabin pressure may be equalized
3. There may be circumstances where this procedure is not possible i.e flights over high terrain
4. The captain will keep the cabin crew and pax updated and a diversion will be initiated asap
5. The captain will liaise with the No1 regarding actions to be taken after landing
FLIGHT DECK FIRE DRILL
1. An electrical fire in the cockpit will need to be extinguished using BCF FE
2. The BCF can be used on any instruments without causing damage to equipment
3. To avoid noxious fumes the pilots should always use their quick donning oxygen/smoke goggles and select 100% oxygen on the mask rocker switch
4, The captain will alert the cabin crew via the interphone or if the situation is critical they will use the emergency PA "Cabin crew on stations" or back up if the U/S emergency lights on.
5. If a member of cabin crew is required to assist it is vital that as much information is gathered before entering the flight deck as communication may be difficult due to the use of pilots fixed oxygen masks and cabin crew PBE
FLIGHT DECK CREW FIRE DRILL ACTIONS
1. Fit quick donning oxygen mask/smoke goggles and select 100%
2. Obtain BCF and fire gloves (if possible)
3. Attack the fire
4. Reading checklists
5. Isolation power appropriate to the source
CABIN CREW FLIGHT DECK FIRE DRILL
1. Collect back-up equipment (PBE, BCF & FG)
2. Fit PBE, FG and test BCF (before entering flight deck)
3. Assist with fire fighting
4. Cgeck pilots have selected 100% oxygen on rocker switch
5. Administer first aid if required
OVERHEAD LOCKER FIRE DRILL
1. Inform captain of: source, severity and location
2. Obtain PBE, BCF & FG
3. Move passengers away from area
4. Open overhead storage carefully and discharge a burst of BCF
5. Close locker
6. Repeat is necessary
7. Remove contents and dampen down
8. Check adjacent areas
9. Monitor throughout flight
10. Keep flight crew informed
CONCEALED FIRE DRILL
1. Inform captain of: source, severity and location
2. Obtain PBE, BCF & FG
3. Move passengers away from area
4. Locate source of heat with back of hand
5. Carefully remove paneling using crash axe
6. Discharge BCF
7. Replace paneling to contain bcf
8. Repeat is necessary
9. Check adjacent areas
10. Monitor throughout flight
11. Keep flight crew informed
UNDER FLOOR FIRE DRILL
1. Inform captain of: source, severity and location
2. Obtain PBE, BCF & FG
3. Apply standard fire fighting technique if accessible
4, Monitor the area and adjacent area
5. Keep flight deck informed
WASTE CHUTE FIRE DRILL (B767 ONLY)
1. Inform captain of: source, severity and location
2. Obtain PBE, BCF & FG
3. Fit PBE, FG, test BCF
4. Locate source with back of hand
5. Open hatch carefully using door as shield, insert nozzle of the BCF and fully discharge whole of contents
6. Close chute and let BCF take affect
7. Repeat if necessary
8. Dampen down
9. Monitor throughout flight
10. Keep the flight crew informed
LITHIUM BATTER FIRE DRILL
1. Inform captain of: source, severity and location
2. Obtain PBE, BCF & FG
3. Fit PBE, FG text BCF
4. Move passengers away from area
5. Remove external electrical power from device is applic (i.e plugged in to charge)
6. Discharge short burst of BCF over battery with non-flammable liquid
7. immerse batter in water (atlas box, bin)
8. Monitor throughout flight
9. Keep the flight deck informed
IFE SEAT BACK FIRE DRILL
1. Remove electrical power ("master power" switch where applicable and/or contact flight crew to isolate the power)
2. Inform flight deck of: source, severity and location
3. Obtain PBE, BCF & FG
3. Fit PBE, FG test BCF
4. Move passengers away from area
5. Discharge a small burst of BCF
6. Repeat is necessary
7. Monitor throughout flight
8. Keep flight deck informed
OVEN FIRE DRILL
1. Remove electrical power (switch off power, pull circuit breaker)
2. Keep over door closed
3. Inform captain of: source, severity and location
4. Obtain PBE, BCF & FG
5. Standby and monitor situation with a BCF which should be tested and ready

If situations worsen and flames are visible
1. Fit PBE and FG
2. Open door slightly, keep low, use door as protection
3. Discharge short burst of BCF, repeat is necessary
4. Remove the contents into a FCB
5. Dampen down
6. Monitor throughout flight
7. Keep flight crew informed
GASH BAG FIRE DRILL
1.Inform the captain of: source, severity and location

Smoke without flames
1. Use any non flammable liquid to dampen contents
2. Check contents and further smoldering

Flames Present
1. Obtain PBE, BCF & FG
2. Fit PBE, FG test BCF
3. DischargeBCF into the top of the bag
4. Immediately seal the top of the bag to contain the BCF
5. Dampen down, repeat is necessary
6. Monitor throughout flight
7. Keep flight crew informed
TOILET FIRE DRILL
1. Inform captain of: source, severity and loaction
2. Obtain PBE, BCF & FG
3. Fit PBE, FG text BCF
4. Move passengers away from area
5. Feel the door with the back of your hand and look for signed of discoloration and smoke to check intensity of fire
6. using the door as a shield, get down low and crack the door open
7. Locate source of the fire and discharge the BCF
8. Close the door and allow BCF to take affect
9. Repeat is necessary
10. Remove contents into a FCB
11. Dampen Down
12. If the fire is in the waste paper bin, open the bin flap, discharge a quick black of BCF and close the flap. Allow BCF to take effect, remove the contents and dampen.
13. Monitor throughout flight.
14. Keep flight crew informed.
DECOMPRESSION DRILL
1. Sit down
2. Secure yourself
3. Get on oxygen
4. Shout commands
5. Call Pilots
6. PA to passengers
7. PA from pilots
8. Collect portable oxygen and fit mask
9. Check pilots
10. Electrics off
11. Galley secure
12. Toilet empty
13. Cabin seatbelt check/no smoking
14. Relocate is safe
15. Administer oxygen assist, reassure
16. No1 PA to passengers

* Once cabin is secure crew should ring pilots and ask "are you on oxygen" if there is no response you must assume that the pilots are not on oxygen. Every effort should be made to enter the flight deck asap. It is essential that the pilots receive oxygen asap.
FLIGHTS OVER HIGH TERRAIN
1. Do not move around cabin - REMAIN SEATED
2. Go onto the portable oxygen once the pilots have advised you that they are unable to descend
3. Stay as calm as possible avoid exertion
4. Remain seated until the aircraft has descended and the pilots have made the PA "descent complete cabin crew released"

The passengers will be unaware that the oxygen supply has been depleted and should not be told that the supply is running out. This will cause unnecessary panic and anxiety, this worsening the effects of hypoxia
VOLCANIC ASH DRILL
1. If the cabin air is contaminated the pilots will down QDO2 and select 100%
2. Cabin crew to return to their station ad fit full harness
3. PA to passengers
4. Cabin crew to get on P02
5. Expect the aircraft to change direction and possible descend
6. The engine thrust maybe reduced to minimise damage to the engines
7. Expect a diversion to the nearest alternative airport
8. Cabin crew to be prepared to receive NITS brief from the flight deck crew
PILOT INCAPACITATION DRILL
1. PA announcement "Cabin crew to flight deck"
2. Nearest cabin crew and No/CS to the flight deck
3. Put the incapacitated pilot into the back seat
4. Fasten the full harness, place arms across chest, with hands placed underneath the shoulder straps and locks
5. Move the seat back
6. Put feet off rudders
7. Tilt head back to maintain open airway
8. Time permitting, administer first aid
9. Be available to check list for the remaining pilot (decent, approach and landing) read from the left side and await correct response from the right side before moving on to the next line
The no1 should distribute remaining crew in accordance with reduced cabin crew compliment procedure
