Arm

With hand flat, slide fingers down upper arm.

Beard

Cup all fingers and thumb around chin and draw hand downwards.

Body / torso

Hold hands flat, fingers forward, thumbs upwards, in front of sides. Simultaneously move hands straight down.

Brain / mind

With pointer finger only extended, touch temple with pointer fingertip.

Brain (physical connotation)

Spread fingers apart and curve towards temple, tap fingertips to head.

Breast

With hand curved, start with thumb towards chest, palm down, and curve hand downwards, ending with little finger against chest at base of breast. Larger breasts would be indicated with large curve and so on

Cheek

With hand in a fist, pointer and thumb extended from fist and hooked on either side of cheek; grip cheek and shake cheek a little.

Chest / lungs

With fingers spread apart and pointing sideways tap hand to chest.

Chin

Tap chin with tip of extended pointer finger.

Ear

Tap ear with pointer finger. Can also be signed by tapping pointer finger against one ear and then the other.

Eyebrow

With pointer fingers on both hands extended and slightly curved, trace eyebrows to centre of forehead.

Flesh / skin

Ok handshape. Pinch the skin between the thumb and pointer finger of other hand while other fingers remain straight.

Foot

Hold one hand flat, palm down, fingertips slightly forward, thumb pointing out towards body. With pointer finger of other hand pointing downwards in front of blade of flat hand, near wrist, draw a large arc around flat hand to thumb with pointer finger tip.

Face

With pointer finger extended draw a circle with finger around face, starting and ending at chin.

Eye

Tap near eye with pointer finger. Can also be signed by tapping pointer finger near one eye and then the other.

Hair

With pointer finger hooked over extended thumb tap side of hooked finger to head, gently, twice. Like holding a hair on temple.

Heart

With thumb extended, palm towards left chest (as your heart is on your left), and fingers bent towards chest; tap fingertips to the side of chest twice.

Leg

With palm facing side of leg, and fingers bent so that fingertips and thumb tip are touching leg; slide fingertips up thigh to waist. Thumb may close onto fingers at end.

Lips

With pointer finger extended from fist and pointing towards mouth, start with tip near the corner of mouth and use fingertip to draw a line in front of lips.

Hand

Hold one hand flat, palm facing you, fingertips pointing upwards. With you other hand grasp first hand so that thumb holds on to the palm and all other fingers hold the back of hand.

Moustache

Pinch pointer finger and thumb together on both hands. Start with fingertips meeting under nose , palms facing forward. Move hands downwards in an arc towards sides.

Mouth

With pointer finger extended from fist and pointing towards mouth, start with tip near the corner of mouth and use fingertip to draw a small circle in front of mouth.

Nose

Touch extended pointer finger to tip of nose.

Pimple

With pointer finger extended from fist and bent towards face (with hand to side of face with palm facing face), tap pointer fingertip to chin and then around cheek and number of times.



Usage Notes: Two taps indicates only a few pimples, 7 means lots and lots

Stomach / tummy

With hand flat, horizontal, and thumb pointing upwards; tap stomach with hand once or twice.

Tooth

Tap tooth with curved pointer finger

Toe

Hold one hand flat, palm down, thumb pointing to body. Tap pointer fingertip of other hand to the middle fingertip of flat hand.

Tongue

With tongue pointing out of mouth, and pointer finger extended from fist and pointing towards tongue; move pointer tip towards tongue twice. May be signed without exposing tongue, perhaps with mouth open slightly.

Teeth

Move curved pointer finger back and forward along teeth.

Vagina

Put thumbs together down low and index fingers together up high with palms forward and other fingers closed.

Penis

Tap middle finger to tip of nose twice.

Erection

Palm facing self, index and middle fingers out pointing across. Rotate handshape at wrist to make it point from low to high.

Shoulder

Flat hand on opposite front of shoulder

Neck

Cup shape facing throat with chin raised. Move from top of neck to bottom.

Head

Flat hand on side of top of head

Hip

Point to hip

Back

Pat back of same side shoulder

Butt

Pat butt cheek with flat hand.

Sex

Cross fingers of two handshape over other two handshape at diagonals in front of self and move together forward and back twice.

Cough (illness connotation)

Clawed hand against chest. Move hand in circles around chest.

Cough (just a cough)

Tap chest twice with fist.

Sneeze

Put index finger across under nose and close eyes intensely.



Do repeatedly for "hayfever".

Hiccup

Cup shape against chest, rotate up and back down while moving abdomen in unison.

Fart (butt connotation)

Throw an imaginary ball behind you next to your hip.

Fart (smelly connotation)

Wave flat hand in front of nose as if waving smell away.

Wink/blink

Tap flat index finger against thumb in front of same side eye with hand facing across.

Breathe / lungs

Wide spread hand on chest bring forward and back.

Smell

With hand flat, palm facing you, start with fingers at nose and move hand up and out in an arc.

Taste

Start with pointer finger extended upwards from fist with tip just in front of chin (palm backwards). Tap fingertip to lips or just below lips twice.

Hear

Tap ear with tip of extended pointer finger twice.

Fingernail

Point generally across and forward, hold finger still. Use straight other pointer to point at side of still finger's nail.

See

With extended forefinger, point to your cheekbone just below the eye and then in the direction of the thing you're seeing.

Look / Watch

2 handshape. Pointer and middle finger up, palm forward. Pointer next to eye. Move hand forward.
