XI (11) This amendment says that one of the states can't sue another state. So therefore Arkansas can't sue Oklahoma. This has been in effect since 1794.

XII (12) This amendment states that the vice president is elected along with the president. This makes it so that they wouldn't fight if they had just got done competing in the campaign. So now they vice president also get elected.

XIII (13) This amendment takes away slavery. This amendment was made around the time of the emancipation proclamation. This was made in about 1851.

XIV (14) This amendment says that we all have equal rights. We all have equal rights no matter the skin, color, or race. So everyone has the same rights

XV (15) This amendment says that anyone can vote. So an African-American could vote. This applies to anyone in America that can vote

XVI (16) This amendment says that Congress has to tax us. So we have to pay back Congress for our protection (or general welfare). Congress can either raise or lower the tax if they wanted.

XVII (17) This amendment allows people to elect a senator as well. So someone can vote for a senator like they do for the president. This applies to everyone who is able to vote.

XVIII (18) This amendment prohibits the drinking, selling, or purchasing of alcohol. So someone who buys alcohol could get in trouble with the police. People used to do this secretly even though it was against the law.

XIX (19) This amendment gives women the right to vote. So if a woman wanted to go out and vote then she could. This is how women started getting more rights.

XX (20) This amendment states when the term for the president and senator ends. They can run again if they haven't served their max amount of terms. They can't serve longer than the dates for these terms to end.

XXI (21) This amendment takes away the 18th amendment. So it is no longer illegal to buy, purchase, or sell an alcoholic beverage. So no one could get in trouble for doing one of those things.

XXII (22) This amendment states the president can only serve 2 terms. The president who served more than 2 terms was Franklin D. Roosevelt. No one else served more than 2 terms.

XXIII (23) This amendment allows people in Washington D.C. to vote. So if you were a resident of Washington D.C. then you could vote.

XXIV (24) This amendment takes away poll taxes. So Congress can't tax us if they just wanted to. Congress cannot take our money if they just wanted to.

XXV (25) This amendment states who can have presidency if something happened to the president. So the vice president would take over for the president if something happened to the president.

XXVI (26) This amendment allows the voting age to be 18. So that way if you are allowed to go and fight and die for your country at 18 then you should be allowed to vote. Before it used to be 21 instead of 18.

XXVII (27) This amendment delays the congressional pay raises until the term following the passage. What Congress makes is determined by the house of representatives. So if a representative wanted to increase or decrease the salary of congress it'd have to wait till the next term for representatives.
