September 1st 1939, the US thought they had just gotten out of the worst war they'd be in, until now. A lot of people were drafted, all men. They thought that we would never get involved with wwII until the date December 8th, 1941. What is remembered most about that war was the fall of the Nazi's and their leader. However most don't recognize who helped in wwII, and defeated the axis powers. On May 14th, 1942 the congress approved the creation of Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) (Indiana Historical Bureau). Most people don't even realize that women played a very important role in organizing and winning the war. While most men were away at war, women had to take over most jobs men had done.
