Why The First Knights Began In The Middle Ages

Knights all began in the Middle Ages. You had to have good money to buy all your equipment. The first knights fought for Charlemagne, King of the Franks. Some knights defended the Christian faith. By the end of the Middle ages, knights were no longer needed. There are some interesting facts about knights that you might didn’t know.
Knights were started in the Middle Ages and are still known about today. Knights were mostly rich nobles who were armed and rode on horseback. They needed expensive things like armor, powerful weapons, and a powerful warhorse. Without those things they would perish, which is probably what the first knights ever found out. The first knights fought for Charlemagne, the King of the Franks in the 700s. The king made the knights ride on horseback to cover more land when fighting. There were three orders of knights who did this. The first one was the Knights Templar. This was founded in the 1100s. They wore white mantles with red crosses and were famous during the fighting. Their headquarters were in Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.They refused to retreat and a few thousand of them beat 26,000 Muslim soldiers. Another order knights were the Knights Hospitaller. This was founded in 1023. They were made to protect sick and poor pilgrims. They defended the holy land from the Muslims. The wore black clothing with white crosses.The moved to the islands of Rhodes and to Malta after the fall of Jerusalem. The last order of knights are the Teutonic knights. German knights one part of the Hospitaller. They wore black clothing with white crosses on the shoulder. After fighting in the Crusades, They began a conquest of Prussia. They became very powerful until being defeated in 1410 by the
