Why Lacrosse Is Important

Running down the lacrosse field with the wind blowing against you, dodging left and right passed your opponents, is the best feeling in the world. Lacrosse has been a major part of my life for as long as I can remember. Fortunately, I have the talent, heart, and drive to play at high levels. It is not always easy and requires a huge commitment. It is stressful trying to balance school and lacrosse, but I have learned the importance of doing so. The bond I share with my parents has been the main reason I am where I am today. I started playing lacrosse at five years old, with my mom as my coach. It was great to share this time and enthusiasm with her. My parents played lacrosse in college and regularly critique my performance, lend advice, and practice with me. It is important to me to spend time with my family and lacrosse has allowed me to grow closer to them. They attend all my games and are my biggest fans; their support makes me work …show more content…
My drive and dedication has made me a top player; I give 110% during games and practice. My skills and performances have led to multiple sports awards which made me feel proud, shown me that hard work really does pay off and all the tears and sweat are worth it. Playing for my high school team is important to me. I am a four year varsity starter and team leader. It was an accomplishment to start as a freshman since our team was talented. I was very nervous to play with the upper-classmen while maintaining my school work. It was difficult to balance school and sports, but as time went on it got easier. Now as a captain, the coaches look to me to lead the team on and off the field. I love to lead others and help them be the best player and person possible. I help tutor them in school and direct them on the field. I understand the nervousness of being a young player, so I try to treat everyone like equals.
