So after I watched the “Lives Affected Video” I started to think about how dangerous drunk and drinking drivers really are. As I started to think some more I realized that I think there are more drunk and drinking drivers than we think and that we are lucky that more people haven’t gotten hurt. There are impacts that drunk drivers have on innocent people and that they are in danger just because a drunk man/woman decided to get on the road ways and drive him/herself home. If an accident did occur then not only would the victim’s lives and in some cases their loved ones lives be impacted by the drunk driver but the drunk driver’s life would have been impacted by the crash.…

The United States is one of very few countries around the entire world to have a Minimum Legal Drinking Age of twenty-one. Despite the high MLDA that America holds in hopes to prevent alcohol abuse, other countries with a lower MLDA seem to have less alcohol abuse. This is because young adults don’t feel the need to binge drink when they come in contact with alcohol, since they can have it daily without breaking the law. Those who can drink at eighteen in other parts of the world are taught alcohol responsibility early on and are monitored by their parents or other adults in the institutions where they consume alcohol. Partying hard, car accidents, and expensive tickets – all of these have one thing in common: they are often associated with drunk driving. In most countries, even developed countries, people are able to drink at the age of eighteen. In some countries, about 61%, the drinking age is commonly eighteen or nineteen (Minimum Legal Drinking Age). In America, however, the national drinking age has recently been ruled as 21 (Griggs). The national drinking age should be overall lowered to eighteen because it will lessen the risk of accidents, discourage teenagers to rebel, and offer a better understanding of the effects of alcohol.…
