There are many beliefs that video games cause violence in youths. Those people who say those things are wrong. They are dead wrong because of the reasons given.
Much of the research done to investigate the matter has been a failure. First, in 2008, 97% of youth ages twelve to seventeen played video games while two thirds of them played an action game with violent content. On the other hand, more than half the parents wonder about the effect that video games have on their child. Also, the exposure to violent media an sometimes contribute to real life violent behavior. Much of the research done that associates games and violence do not correlate. Finally, crime in youths have decreased greatly since 1996 (Olson). First, parents could play the games so that they can see what the content of the game is. Parents could also help with the duration of gameplay by putting the game system in common areas of the house instead of their rooms. Next, they could set limits to as how long they kids can play the games. Also, parents could encourage sports or other school activities such as band or football which could keep them from playing as many games. In addition, games also share much in common with other enjoyable and rewarding pursuits (Olson). Video games may also have an effect on people with ASD (Steve). That is because people are active processors of their environment or the things around them. Furthermore, when there is an advertisement on tv they don't necessarily lead us to purchase the product in the same way that games don't make people be violent. Studies have also found there is a correlation with media and violence but they don't list other factors about the persons life. There is no casual link between video games and violence. Finally, every court has said that there is insufficient evidence to say there is a link (Richard).
On the other hand, some people say that video games do cause violence in youths. They are wrong because while crime rate has went down video game sales have went through the roof. They are also wrong because games promote morality and ethics in those who play them. There are too many reasons that they are wrong to put them all down. In addition, they have tried to keep younger kids from getting them by keeping younger kids from getting them by getting them by making systems in which minors can't purchase mature games. Also, on another note parents can hardly be a compelling state interest (Richard). “No law can substitute for parental involvement in what their children consume.” Courts have also said “error in which people on both sides of the debate are prone of oversimplification.” Also, some people say that too much exposure to violent video games or media can lead to violent behavior. Next, the US capita on video games are only forty-two dollars per capita but has three times the amount of gun murders than other countries. Finally, people don't actually know to what degree video games can make people violent (Richard). First, the government or anyone else does not closely watch enough media with suspicion anymore. Next, there is also the factor about the individual that is consuming the media. People who play the games also develop empathy and a strong moral compass. Also, those who are exposed to a virtual experience act, and behave in different ways. In addition, the consequences in the games are effective at promoting morality and ethics. Also by choosing hat the character does, it offers an opportunity to explore all sides of the things such as dilemmas (Richard). First, the games do not lead us to better or to worse and can make us more tolerant and understanding of different sides. Unlike books and movies which there is no control over what happens, but in video games the player control much of what happens. Also, the decisions should be based evidence other than what people think they know. People act like games make youths violent which definitely is not true
