Baltimore, Maryland---- On May 6, 2017, White Mercy---- a group exhibition curated by seven first-year MICA Graduate students from Curatorial Practice program opens on Space Camp Gallery, located at 16 West North Avenue, the opposite of the MICA Lazarus centure. The exhibition, on view until May 12, focuses on the minoriy people who suffer from white supremacy, and tries to discuss where the white supremacy is coming from originally and its serious influences on minorieties from various aspects, including politics, ecnomics, education, and prison systems. Several programs will also be attached to the exhibition, including panal discussion, zines and projections. Most of the artists suffer from this racism issue, or peole related to them are affected by white supremacy negatively. Born and raised in New Orleans, American south, as a white person, Ti Rock Moore can feel the uneraned advanges because of her white skin and the unfair oppressions that people of color stand, which drives her to utilize artistic mediums, such as neo and mixed medias, to protest as an activist, and also to awaken more people, especially the white, to fight against white supremacy; Lek Borja is an Filipino-American artist focusing on Installation and sculpture. Her work uses metaphor ways to showcase the difficult time, prejudice included, that Asian people have experienced throughout the history and even today due to the whiteness; Baltimore-based multimedia artist Ada Pinkston’s installation and performance works highlight the African-American identity and the local minoriety communities……
