World war one was the war to set the face of the world for the coming century. It was a
time of rapid militarization across europe. It was a time of newly formed alliances
between weak and strong alike. The key causes of World War one can be boiled down to
three main reasons. Firstly the vast militarization across europe and the european belief in
militarism, secondly the buildup of tensions due to this vast militarization and lastly the
system of alliances between large and small countries alike. Mass militarization across europe was a key factor in the start of the first world war.

However more importantly was the belief of the people in their countries military due to
militarism. Militarism is the belief in one's own country's military and that it should be used
aggressively weather that be for self interest or self defense. This belief and pride of
military across europe led to the buildup of tension above what is normally seen even by
today's standards. The buildup of tension between countries is most clearly seen between Germany
and Great Britain. The tensions due to the imperialization of Africa for its resources.
However what was a true tipping point of these tension was the violation of Belgium
neutrality in 1914. The violation of Belgian neutrality by Germany is what officially brought
England and her allies into the war. The violation of Belgian neutrality could be easily
overlooked as could many other small skirmishes leading up to the peak of the first world
war. If it where not for the newly alliances formed between nations and treaties of feudal
europe. The main feudal treaty is between England and Belgium which is why the
breach of belgian neutrality is a key point because it brought the full force of Britain
