Phillippi, Holley, Moard, and Collins (2016) stated a study that was conducted by Golding et al in 1992 is the only study to show a relationship between vitamin K and leukemia. However, because the Golding study was a retrospective study performed on a small sample size the results were due to chance. There have been many follow up studies to correlate the relationship between vitamin K and leukemia and no connection has been found. This journal also mentioned two other studies which were performed on much larger sample sizes and both concluded that there is no link between vitamin K prophylaxis and leukemia (Phillippi, Holley, Moard, & Collins, 2016). I feel that it would be easy to decide as a parent to not have vitamin K administered to my child if the internet told me it was linked to leukemia. Nevertheless, I think it is important for these parents to not self-educate themselves from non-scholarly sources and ultimately weigh the risks and benefits. Getting the vitamin K shot outweighs the risks because you could potentially save your child from VKBD, and the risk of leukemia as mentioned above, is a
