Oliver is 4 years old and has just begun to attend ‘The School House Day Nursery’ which is a small setting in a rural community. The setting is well managed and has an experienced SENCO in place. William has been diagnosed with Autism and has trouble communicating. The staff begin to feel negatively to Oliver as they find a lot of their time taken up with dealing with the other children’s reaction to his behaviour. They have also noticed that some of the older boys are copying his behaviour.
He is disruptive, loud, screams if he is not allowed to do as he wants, he is physically aggressive, destroys his own and other children’s creations, knocks down towers etc, scribbles on others drawings, swipes games and jigsaws off of tables etc. He also hits, bites and trips other children up, tending to pick on the children who will make the most
