Toy Guns Should Be Banned

Improved Essays
Although some see the use of toy guns completely harmless others give the topic no leeway. If you are completely against, I would suggest looking into statistics regarding the issue before completely getting rid of them in the household. However, if your children will not drop the subject there are alternatives to making playing with toy guns less violent and more fun based. One suggestion could to take away the game part of water guns. You could do this by just having the kids chase each other around the yard instead of having them hunt each other down for a fictional violent reasons. Another thing some parents could be worried about are the video games including toy guns or any violence. As a parent you could test the game out for yourself before letting our children play it. This way you could see how violent the game really is and any other content you could be worried about. In addition to that each game has a rating and why it is rated that way so even if you don’t understand every aspect to the game there is any explanation for it. Along with the rating there is also an age recommendation for the game. Another concern about toy guns is that is they are taken away that children will still use their hands or other household items instead. Although there isn’t that much you can do to prevent them from using their hands or other items, you could interact act with them while they play. By doing so you can make the fictional game they are playing less violent and you can incorporate right and wrong into the game itself. Also this way you know your child’s exact thoughts on their views of guns and what they are used for. If they aren’t what you believe they …show more content…
I see no harm in letting children play with them as long as they know the difference between right and wrong. Violent acts are caused by many other things so why take away from part of someone’s

Some opponents of tougher gun control legislation say that criminal activity is very likely to occur when there is no force of protection present between a criminal and a defenseless target. Criminals will prefer to commit their diabolical acts in highly populated “gun free” zones, where citizens are not armed and are subjected to the villain’s will. According to John Lott Jr., former chief economist for the U.S. Sentencing Commission, every mass shooting since 1977, other than the 2011 Tucson killings, has occurred in a gun-free zone. Whether these predators like to pounce upon their easily accessible, unarmed prey, or think that they are more likely to be stopped in areas where people are allowed to carry concealed weapons, they still are taking advantage of the gun control laws (Taylor). Opponents say that the solution to this problem is to allow citizens to carry concealed weapons.…

One of the top three things that liberals and conservatives tend to fight about 24/7 is gun control. Liberals tend to believe that with stricter gun control laws there will be a decrease in gun violence. While conservatives tend to think that with stricter gun control laws won 't just breach the second amendment but it will also cause more gun related violence. According to Jill Lepore, a Harvard professor of United States History, a 1991 poll in the US found that people were more likely to know of the Second Amendment: the “right to bear arms” than they were to know the First: the freedom of speech, religion, and assembly (Lepore). This startling fact clearly shows that US citizens prioritize guns very highly, perhaps over our own freedom. However, the interpretation of the Second Amendment as the right of citizens to carry any and all types of guns wherever they want, is misconceived. The actual Amendment states “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed”. At the time the Amendment was written,…

With cars, it’s hard to avoid a lot of danger, but responsible gun owners can lessen deaths by doing simple things like making sure the safety on their guns are on and keep guns in areas not accessible to kids. Another thing camp talks about is not needing training to use a gun because it’s a right. (7-9) I don’t really agree with this. I think teaching people how to use a gun can probably reduce the already minimal accidental shootings. The next thing Camp mentions is “the most common point of failure, though, in drawing analogies between guns and cars is in the comparison of purpose.…

Imagine: school shootings, terrorist attacks, world wars, and armies all without one thing, guns. The world has changed in many ways over time since the invention of the gun itself, and quite a few things could have happened completely different or even yet, not at all without this one invention. Nonetheless, the gun has also brought a form of protection to society, and several could argue that its creation was for the better. So how would the world be different if the gun had never been invented?…

The push to ban guns will only keep guns away from law abiding citizens since criminals, by nature, do not follow laws and respect the gun free zones. The banning of guns in America should end.…
