In “To Really Save the Planet, Stop Going Green” Mike Tidwell explains to us that human life can be long, and can be affected greatly over time. Especially if life takes a different form other than human life, such as the environment that makes human life possible. The talk of global warming and the effects humans have on the environment is talked about a lot in today’s society, but is anything really being done about it? The use of the environment and its resources are taken for granted by humans on a large scale, and although a small number of people are doing things to stop it, there needs to be a bigger change. That’s why in this article Tidwell explains to us that to make a serious improvement there needs to be government action and laws enforced to limit the uses of greenhouse gases. Although this will be difficult, according to Sharon Begley in “Too much hot air” because governments believe that capping greenhouse gases could cripple their economy, if enough people make a real stand towards the government, they may rethink their policy’s (Begley). Tidwell also explains that if these limits or laws are not reached, the consequences could have drastic natural effects on human life. With the lives of millions in the balance, humans need to stop taking the environment for granted and make a real change of the situation. Tidwell tells us that scientists have done …show more content…
In both articles the idea of sustaining life as long as possible and the evidence that humans really do take life for granted are clearly shown. Whether it is an overnight thing like when Christopher Hitchens life was turned upside down in a New York hotel room, or a long term environmental change that nobody realizes until it’s too late like in Mike Tidwell’s article, people need to realize that anything can happen. Both these authors showed that they are willing do everything they can to make life last as long as possible. By making changes to the CO2 laws and allowing humans to be able to live in a safe environment, or by sacrificing everything you can to stay alive, it all leads to the point that life is an amazing thing, but it is also something that humans need to use to its fullest potential. Everyday should be spent doing something productive in the world, because you never know when it might all be taken away from
