Thomas 'The Kite Runner': An Analysis

The Gladers have reached their journey’s end and have completed the Scorch Trials, but the danger doesn’t end there, it only begins. I will predict what will happen to Thomas, predict what will happen to the other Gladers, and evaluate who/what WICKED really is. I predict that Thomas will actually die, but others will be forced to do so because of his actions. Thomas is dangerous like a bomb because he threatens everyone around him at this point. His unwillingness to cooperate with WICKED doesn’t help either: “No. Don’t say another word. Just…leave me alone. And you can tell Wicked that I’m done playing their games. Tell them I’m done!” (Dashner 357). If Thomas is not willing to comply with WICKED there is no doubt they will get rid of him, as he is of no use anymore. I believe the reason for Thomas’ hate for WICKED came from the plot to make him feel “betrayed”, but also because of the final battle. Both groups made it to the “safe haven” in time but still had to fight those grotesque monsters. They lost a few members …show more content…
Despite their actions against the Gladers and what they have put these kids through I believe WICKED is doing what they think is necessary to save the world: “I represent a group called WICKED,” Rat man continued. “I know it sounds menacing, but it stands for World In Catastrophe, Killzone Experiment Department. Nothing menacing about it, despite what you may think. We exist for one purpose and one purpose only: to save the world from catastrophe” (Dashner 55). I believe that WICKED is ultimately prepping the Gladers to survive and fight in the harshest and most dangerous scenarios. The Maze demanded organization, order, and smarts to survive and escape the Maze. The Scorch Trials demanded perseverance, courage, and quick thinking. This is why I think WICKED is ultimately considered a “good” force, because they are prepping the Gladers to save the

A look at the three works, thematically we are brought to the realization of the unspoken Native American culture. An unstated theme of these stories could be the plight of the American Indians and their struggles in the past under the European Colonialism and the conflicts therein with the establishment of a better future. In the Shawl, the healing and restoration theme can be translated by the fact that after the excessive trauma suffered by the narrator’s father, he finally accepts to move beyond the trauma of his childhood (Erdrich, 2014). The narrator relates the story of his grandfather being left by his grandmother who had fallen in love with another man. Eventually, she leaves with the narrator’s aunt.…

The film Maze Runner is a post-apocalyptic dystopian story about a group of teenagers who survived a man-made disease called the flare, and their lives in the glade which is surrounded by a maze full of deadly creatures named Grievers. The gladers have no previous memory except for their names, and their lives have been orderly until the arrival of Thomas and Theresa who are evidently different from the rest. Under Thomas’ leading, some of the gladers successfully escape the maze, only to find it is a planned experiment by an organization named WICKED (Gamarra, Hartwick, Williams, 2014). I chose this movie since it shows critical youth development especially maturation and independence, as it has little interactions with adult figures. Although…

Quickly labelled the ‘Greenbean’, Thomas finds his introduction to life in the Glade abrupt and confusing, and no one seems to want to tell him what’s going on or why he’s been sent there. All he knows is that he has a desperate need to get to know the world inside the vast, imposing walls – and an even more burning desire to find out what’s beyond them.…
