Whether you have a new job, want to move back to be closer to family, or simply are ready to try living in a new city, moving interstate can be a daunting prospect. Before moving you must pack up your entire life from your previous home. You then must transport all of your personal belongings interstate - which can be an expensive and time consuming process in itself. Very expensive. You don’t have to break the bank during the moving process, but you do need to be prepared to spend a little to make it go smoothly and without a hitch. Do your research and find a good moving company which charges affordable rates. Ok, yes they may be expensive (driving a truck across the country always costs money, regardless of the company), but it will be worth it. Don’t try and transport your own things between states, as it will take longer than you think, and simply isn’t worth it.
Make Sure That You Notify Utility Companies:
Before you leave, make sure that you give your phone, cable, electricity, and water companies plenty of notice so that they can cut your services before you leave. Doing this will ensure that you aren’t left with extra charges to pay, even after you have moved out.
In the same way, make sure that utility companies in your destination town are aware of your arrival. There is nothing worse than turning up to your new home only to discover that you have no running water and no electricity. If you are unsure than give them a call: it is better to be safe than sorry! Make Sure That Your Mail Can Be Forwarded:
This goes without saying: you don’t want to miss out on important letters from friends or colleagues during the transition period after moving. Notify your local post-office so that they can redirect your mail to your new home, and try and update your address with everyone
