Jane- Jane is the main character in this book. She has been through so many different accidents that most people don’t go through. Her series of accidents started when she got bit by a spider in the hand. She never could explain why she would get into all sorts of accidents. Until the one accident that finally made her think. The one where she got shot in the head with a nail gun. The only thing no one knew was that she wasn’t the one who shot herself with it, it was her shadow. She later discovers that her shadow turned out to be Leo gage a 13 year old boy whom was killed in the woods. After fighting Leo’s ghost he disappears and she returns to normal.

She lives in Edgewood Canada. Jane is at the doctor’s office where she got an x-ray of her brain. She needs this because he had a brain injury. 1- “The nail in my brain” (6). At this part we know now that she has a nail in her brain, this nail is in very deep which the reason they won’t take it out is. After her surgery to see the nail she started to sleep walk. The first time she did this she ended up in the middle of the road where her dad’s boss found her. He dad is a police officer in Edgewood. 2- “Guess I got lost on my way to the bathroom” (10). After her doctor’s appointment she gets a call from Lexi her best friend to see if she needs surgery. 3- “it’s like you’re feeding me the whole pharmacy” (20). Jane has to take a lot of medication so she doesn’t get infections or seizures. Then Lexi went to pick up Jane so they could go to school. It was Jane’s first time back at school since her accident. When Jane meet Lexi she was in the bathroom stall, Lexi was dressed in all black and would film weird things on her cellphone. She then saw a bunch of random things like places she had never seen. She also mentions the time she was going home from a doctor’s appointment and she see her shadow sitting in the driver’s seat when it was really her dad. 9- “What’s going on” (87). She was asleep while on her way home when a landslide almost makes them crash into the side of the mountain. When they stop to see the landslide they find a skull her dad quickly radio’s for backup. 10- “How you holding up?” (91). Her parents ask Jane how she’s doing because the past 24 hours have been a lot for her. 11- “So you don’t think my shadow had anything to do with making this slide happen?” (93). Jane thinks that her shadow had something to do with the slide and the finding of the skull. With all that’s happened she can expect anything from her shadow. All people talked about at school was what has happened to Jane. The next day Jane is at the flower shop her mother owns. She is sitting behind the counter when he begins to hear a noise on the door.
