The Movie Trailer In Jigsaw Killer

Superior Essays
Jigsaw is a horror series that’s main goal and purpose served is to allow characters to gain a better understanding of what life has to offer and how we as humans never fully appreciate that in its entirety. Although the Jigsaw Killer’s intentions are ultimately genuine, his way of applying his ideas into the thoughts of others isn’t so much compatible. In order to incorporate this general concept of Saw as a whole into smaller snippets that represent the motive behind the movie itself, countless factors are needed to display a well thought out and effective movie trailer that does just that; whether it be music that alters the viewer's experience, or simply the way the camera catches a certain color which may switch the viewer's mood from …show more content…
To begin, there are multiple scenes shown that depict horrific circumstances; these few being of a hanging man within the first few seconds, to different variations of gruesome events throughout the trailer as a whole. The purpose of this is to ultimately gain a perception of what these characters are going to suffer from within the duration of the film. To be more specific, as seen below in fig. 1, one of the first sickening shots is that of a group of five in a room where the first “Jigsaw game” of Jigsaw 8 takes place. They have a minute to uncover their purpose in the room before their body’s are essentially ripped to pieces by approaching blades. While this scene unrolls, the viewer's heart begins to race and the goal of having the reader become anxious as to what’s to come, is very well achieved. As the trailer continues, another impactful clip is that of two individuals in a circular room filled with what looks to be sand. As they wait cluelessly, fatal objects begin to fall into their direction with no real explanation as to why. This significantly affects the viewer’s level of fear and continues to bring anxiety upon whomever. To keep interest, the viewer must be bonded by some sort of underlying aspect that keeps them wanting to know more about the situation due to the suspense their emotions create. By showing numerous scenes with regards to that very idea, the film trailer successfully reels the viewer in and evokes pathos all

Journal 1 After the first two weeks of lecture in Cinema Appreciation I have learned a great deal more about what goes into making a film. I was under the impression that there was one magical camera that could change settings to capture the diverse range of images instantaneously. Active viewing was something, I thought I did, but it wasn’t until I took a step back and saw the variety of shots and how each one of them is put together that I realized that there is more then one way to watch a movie. The different ways that a film is shot and how the scene is constructed are ways directors convey meaning to the audience. Film language and mise-en-scene are greatly present during the film Edge of Tomorrow.…

Before something unpleasant begins to happen, loud-wary music beings playing to build up tension in the audience. Not only does the cinematographer use good music selection, but they’re good at using camera motion when needed during a horrific scene to make the tone more dramatic. The camera will slowly zoom in when something dreadful is happening or use certain shots to show main focus. The cinematographer in one scene focuses on Daniel running away from the oil rig after saving HW from a gas explosion. After Daniel runs to safety, before checking on HW’s condition, looks away up to the rig as the camera moves along with him.…
