The Iron Dome System

A nation long ago that had to Increase its defensive measures in order to survive remains standing victorious. This country which goes by its Hebrew name of Israel which means “God may prevail”, has continually been defending themselves against the imperialistic form of the Arab Palestinians. Israel at all times being surrounded by their adversary are constantly watching their back, figuratively speaking. This relentless tussle has been going on for thousands of years. It has been said to date back from the story of Abraham in the Bible where there was a family feud between his sons, Isaac and Ishmael. “When a feast was held to celebrate the weaning of Isaac, who was born 13 years later, Ishmael caused trouble by insulting and mocking his little brother” (Genesis 21:8-9) (4). After Sarah, who by then had come to dislike both Hagar and Ishmael, saw what he was doing, she said to Abraham "Cast out this slave woman with her son; for the son of this slave woman shall not be heir with my son Isaac” (Genesis 21:10 RSV) (4). There are many systems such as the Iron Dome, David’s Sling, Arrow Theatre System, and The Patriot. I will focus on The Iron Dome. This system has contributed to the efforts of protection of short range rockets and mortars that have been fired by Palestinian terrorist located in southern Lebanon. The Iron Dome has the capability to have positive identification and annihilate the projectile prior to it landing. Its first real battle proved worthy in The Iron Domes favor. It successfully intercepted a large quantity of rockets fired by Hamas.
