Having a scholarship is great and has lots of perks, such as getting payed to do what you love. Which is what every athlete dreamed of before getting into collegiate level. But growing up with lots of time given into the dedication needed to be great, many suffer from their grades. Learning that I could easily fall ineligible and lose my money and not be able to participate is a lot to lose. The only reason I am at St. Francis is because of the bowling scholarship being so well, otherwise I wouldn’t be able to afford to go to school here. This being so, driving home from practice every day and getting home at 9pm every night, being expected to do homework and study to full potential isn’t exactly what will happen. Staying up most nights until 2am because of the work load and still driving in the morning to school every day can take a toll. Thus, starting a cycle of not getting sleep which causes the time in the classroom to affect my education, then leading back to the problem of staying eligible. Being 18 years old and losing sleep over the fact that this University might not be a part of my future anymore if school gets too much to handle is frightening to
