Value Of A Life Story

Few people would argue the value of creating a story of a life lived. In fact, it’s why I consider it a wholly noble idea that I create my own life’s story. From it, I hope my descendants will likely learn something valuable and endearing, tragic or disgusting and distasteful from the life I’ve experienced, but nonetheless might know me. Not in as much as my inability to convey the message, but more so just the total lack of interest by many in hearing what I have to say is what I consider a monumental loss to those who could know me but don’t, and will only do so should they take the time to read this.
I always concluded that it would take rather a prodigious effort to write my own history, not only for the fact that no-one would necessarily

Each week, for 52 weeks, I answered the question that I considered important enough to set the stage for highlighting a particularly important era in my life. Within the year I created somewhat of a life story to share for future posterity. I somehow won’t be forgotten, not because my own life story, whether favourable, deficient, admirable or calamitous will now exist, but because I finally got to speak about my life and my role in it, even if only as word on printed page. I have even added some pictures thereby making it more inviting to read.
Once having made the decision to write about my life, I state here clearly that I in no way mean to be condescending, judgmental, accusatory or threatening. What follows is not necessarily an objective truth, but nonetheless it is my truth. Also, by taking absolutely no pledge to mention only the most lucid, colourful, vivid, vigorous and impressive periods, and I have wondered how many pages this story would

Charles, I believe it was meant to be but Kent was the name they finally settled on. It was no doubt such a task that I was given but a single name - Kent.
The actual origin of the name Kent remains blurred to this day. One thing that is known is that it is a boy’s name of possible Celtic - Gaelic origin, and not only when referring to the South Eastern County in England. It means ‘bright white’, which I suspect, refers to neither my ethnicity nor my mental prowess. The name first appeared in the early 1800’s and enjoyed a steady rise until it peaked in the 1960’s after which it saw an almost mirrored decline, and all but became extinct in the mid-2000’s.
In the 70’s, we had neighbours who lived across the street who for reasons known only to them, produced a new baby boy every year until it reached a point where I think they just ran out of names, so they chose to name their final young chap, the seventh, after me. That was the last I personally heard of

When looking back at history, it is easy to blindly focus only on the distinguished individuals and most memorable events. Though these have a great amount of importance and remain influential on our lives today, it is both valuable and insightful to consider the general population and their alluring lives. Additionally, the fact that these individuals are not featured in history textbooks or taught to students as a part of a common curriculum does not make their stories any less excellent, but could potentially provide for a new outlook on our past. In 1934, as America was in the midst of The Great Depression and countless citizens were struggling to find their way through the country’s economic downfall, Ruth Green was born in in Burlingame, California.…

Antoine Roquentin’s feelings of “adventure” and Anny’s notion of “perfect moments” tie together throughout Nausea. Roquentin spends most of his time alone, self-analyzing, but it is through his adventure that he discovers what he has been missing. Unlike Roquentin, Anny had been chasing these “perfect moments” her whole life and by the end of the book, she feels as if she has run out of them. Anny and Roquentin’s lives seem to almost run parallel to each other, but going the opposite directions; Anny always seeking adventure then giving up on them and Roquentin finally seeking an adventure only to find they only exist once they’re over. Although entirely different concepts throughout Nausea, Roquentin’s “adventures” and Anny’s “perfect moments”…

Before I begin this essay I would like to thank Dr. Glenn Brasher, a history professor here at the Capstone, for increasing my knowledge and allowing me to develop more perceptions about life. This acknowledgment to Dr. Brasher is very crucial; because it will help you understand how my inspiration has allowed me to persevere in life. Even though this year has just begun, 2017 has been one of the most eventful and unyielding years since I was in Kindergarten watching the Twin Towers collapse. In 2001, that event created a hole in our nation’s economy, enforced new policies that weren’t fair to all American citizens, and it even led to distrust in our county. As this year slowly unfolds it is revealing how those same affects are taking a…

Our legacy is part of ourselves that, will be left in the hearts and minds of others. Some people leave a positive and inspiring legacy while some people willingly or not, leave a negative one. Nobody wants their existence to be lost to time. And just like everyone I wants to be remembered for the love and kindness I shared that has all become too scarce in today’s world.…

When were young everything is new, cool, and captivating; we experience the world with curiosity. As we get older, we confine, we constrict, and we counteract the world around. If placed in a nerve racking situation, we strive to make it positive, it is what we do. There was quote I have always enjoyed from the prominently silence actor, Charlie Chaplin in the 1940s film, The Great Dictator, he says, “...we think too much, and feel too little.” I like to think of myself as someone who always wants to experience life, both the ups and the downs. It's a little difficult to cram 19 years of life into 3 minutes.…
