They have grown up with it, and use it on an everyday basis. Older generations feel that this new age of technology is running people’s lives and feel that it’s making this generation dumber. I disagree with this and think there are so many helpful uses for technology and the internet, and many ways people can use it for beneficial reasons. Technology can allow people to find out information readily at their fingertips, use it to help with transportation, shopping, banking, and especially use it for communication. According to a study done by PewResearchCenter it says “Three quarters of Millennials have created a profile on a social networking site, compared with half of Xers, 30% of Boomers and 6% of Silents” (Kahn). Social media is one of the top ways to stay connected with family, friends, and is now used for communication with people from the workplace. Not only are technology/ social media valuable for people’s everyday needs, but it also beneficial for companies and running a business. LinkedIn is a social networking website specifically used for the business world. It is used for people to stay connected with their peers from work, and a resource for people to put themselves out there to get noticed by companies and potentially get a job. They are changing the way businesses run in many ways and for the better by using their skills and coming up with new ideas. With technology being such a big part of their lives, they are able to use it in more resourceful ways than previous generation who may not know how to use it that well. Millennials are cooperative and work well with others of diverse backgrounds. This generation wants to be successful and achieve their goals while doing something they enjoy and love. With millennials being the largest generation, they are becoming the majority of the workforce. There are many benefits of having millennials on the job and previous generation should recognize and applaud them rather than look down or bash them.
