Although Americans were attacked by terrorists and blind to it at the time, America is safer after 9/11 because America now has a better understanding of terrorism and how our security will help keep us safe.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The agency has overseen a massive increase in deportations, which have nearly doubled since 9/11. After 9/11, the Bush administration tried to see immigration enforcement as a way to fight terrorism. By increasing deportations, the people in America know the majority of who is in America and who we have sent away. Immigration enforcement increased dramatically after September 11. Immigrant removals — including deportations and so-called voluntary departures — went from roughly 200,000 people in 2001 to nearly double that in 2011. Deportation is a good change since 9/11 because it acts as a filter, by getting all the bad things out of our country. “With the goal of strengthening border security, the Bush Administration created the Department of Homeland Security in 2002, a cabinet-level office that merged 22 government agencies”(Matthew). Creating a new strength with the border helps keep America safe by not letting in the people we are unsure of. It will also evaluate the people already in America. Security has shaped from airports, to individuals' homes. “The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and its many partners across the federal government, public and private sectors, and communities across the country and around the world have worked since 9/11 to build a new homeland security enterprise to better mitigate and defend against dynamic threats, minimize risks, and maximize the ability to respond and recover from attacks and disasters of all kinds”(Homeland Security). Homeland security is something we all have a part in and something we can all do. Recently on 9 news, they have released that there is a new security update at the airports as of 2016. The update is new facial recognition. The act of terrorism towards America will not be a easy to accomplish as it was in the past. The future of America’s security is here and it is moving
