Near the end of the first act at the party the characters are attending, the reader witnesses Romeo catching sight of Juliet and seemingly forgetting Rosaline, his apparent love that could not be topped, “O, she doth teach the torches to turn bright!/ It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night/ As a rich jewel in an Ethiop’s ear-/ Beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear!/” (1.5.46-49). With all of the things Romeo had said about Rosaline it suggests that he is feeling more lust than love. The only reason he even went to the party was to sulk over not being with her. But apparently all those feelings can just go away in an instant because the exact same thing happens with Juliet. Everything he had once felt went out the window with one look at a girl that he had for the first time made eye contact with. He then states “(Insert what Romeo said about Juliet)”…

This is not true love in the way most people think it is, their “love” is a form of lust and desire. Romeo and Juliet are just out of puberty, their desires had very much formed their obsession. Romeo’s desires are what drove his obsession about Rosaline. It was after Rosaline chose to be a nun that Romeo had lost interest. Romeo had told Benvolio, “For beauty starved with her severity/ Cuts beauty off from all posterity” (I i 205-206).…

Reading the definitions of love and infatuation, I concluded that the feelings that Romeo and Juliet felt toward each other were purely infatuation. Romeo and Juliet is a story about “love” and what two people are willing to sacrifice for it. Shakespeare says the play was about love but after reading the definitions of each, infatuation is way closer to what Romeo and Juliet actually feel towards each other. The definition of infatuation is an intense but short-lived passion or admiration for someone or something. Love proves to be different with its definition being, knowledge of each other, not of the flesh but through the flesh, knowledge of self, the real him, the real her, the mask slipped from the face.…

The whole play is like high school, so much infatuation thought of as love, so many terrible decisions. In the play The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare the two main characters are both realistic and relatable to today’s teenagers, as they exhibit the same actions when dealing with love and infatuation. Romeo is just like any other teenage boy ever to walk the planet; he “falls in love” with the sight of a beautiful girl. Romeo and juliet felt infatuation. At least that's what I think. There are many things to point to love, but I believe these actions were really just stupid teenage decisions. (1.1.216-19). Despite believing he was in love with Rosaline, Romeo is never said to have put in the same amount of effort to woo Rosaline as he did with Juliet. What begins as an infatuation with young Juliet, quickly begins to hint at love as Romeo allows himself to be guided by his feelings and approach her. Romeo puts away his disputes with her family on the premise of his love for her, and ultimately decides he can’t live without her. Introduction Paragraph From before the moment Juliet and Romeo meet, their love is entwined with death. Romeo senses a fatal end approaching as he considers going to the party at Capulet’s house where he will meet Juliet for the first time. Likewise, as she sends her nurse to discover Romeo’s identity, Juliet thinks of her death. The feud between Montagues and Capulets creates a world where the lives of the members of the houses revolve around fights and deaths that make it impossible for Juliet and Romeo’s love for each other to lead anywhere good. Instead, their love brings chaos, violence, and the deaths of their friends and of themselves.…
