First, Christopher Columbus decided to travel East looking for new riches and a shorter route to the Far East. In 1492, Columbus discovered the Americas. Europeans wanted to come to America because of the rich farmlands, precious metals, freedom of religion, and it was a place where convicts could be sent to away from the mother country. Along with the increased trade and political power, combined with new technologies allowing for faster sea travel, European countries competed for the newly discovered lands. Opportunity and promises of wealth in the New World made it a great place for people wanting to grow businesses and new ideas. Disease, hunger and violence effected most of the early settlers in America. Needing more supplies from England for farming and metalworks, in the spring of 1590 it was abandoned and unclear whether continued settlement would be viable. Although many challenges were in the early years, it eventually began to grow. The French and British had a Seven Year War (1756-1763) over the boundaries on the North America territories. This conflict spread across Europe bringing many countries to help in the battle. Navy battles were happening around the world at this same time frame. French became financially broke and was forced to yield to Britain. With Britain’s victory, because they were able to fund the cost of the war for the whole seven years. The American War of Independence was caused because the money borrowed for the Seven Year war needed to be paid back. Therefore, they were putting taxes on good and paper imported from Britain. July 4, 1776 the United States of America declared its independence from England (Acrobatiq, 2014). The American Revolution had an important impact on the new American government, being political more than a social revolution. Transportation, financial exchanges, computer systems, development of medications and communication grew among the world trade. Technology made these much easier and quicker to accomplish. Cultural changes helped link economic development and ideas between the United States, Europe and the world. Along with social media being an advantage to help facilitate uprising of people and governments, it can have a negative effect with misleading information based on opinion being transferred by and to the people.
In conclusion, changes that followed the American Revolution, included cultural, political and economic; nationalism developed; the consequences of cultural, economic, and industrialization in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries changed the world. The American Revolution was more of a political break from the mother country, being an example that other countries could follow.
