When you are able to show vulnerabilities and can admit your faults you are more relatable and therefor are able to earn peoples trust. To some this may appear to be extremely unprofessional but this was his authentic self and when you are authentic people want to gravitate to you. Knowing who your audience is another strategy to being a great leader. Speaking to them as if you are speaking to them as each individual is a way to connect to them. Exceptional communicators don’t worry about sounding important, showing off their expertise, or boosting their own ego. They talk to the audience and express what they need to hear and deliver the message in a way that it is heard by them. The communicator makes the complex simple, distilling complex thoughts into simple term so that everyone is able to grasp the message. He is able to get people interested in his speeches because he is able to take a very complicated and hard to understand subject and make it interesting and easy to understand. He comes across lively and friendly and therefor is able to get people who would not normally be interested in astrophysics to listen to him. Proactivity is another great way to be a great communicator. They don’t beat around the bush as the saying goes. They let the audience know anytime there is news whether good or bad before rumors start taking over. They express their goals and their directions clearly and articulately so that people are not lead in the wrong direction. Leaders also lead by example. They don’t do what they say. I have personally witnessed leaders who have failed at this. We have a saying in the navy “honor, courage, and commitment.” When someone was wrong they threw that saying at us yet time and time again they did not live up to the saying themselves. Oftentimes covering up for someone
