This resulted in protests, riots, and strikes by the house workers. They gave them selves power. The workers challenged their employers and city officials who wanted to control them.
They combined their work protests with their activism for fairness and equality. Unfortunately, things got out of hand in the communities and this triggered riots, the push for African American sufferage , and segregation. The black people in Atlanta’s communities disagreed with segregation in any place (busses, restaurants etc.) and demanded a stop to police brutality by protesting. The African Americans of the community used segregation to exploit their power. African American women used this opportunity take a break from house labor and do jobs such as seamstresses, prostitutes and clerks. Those jobs created extra income for these women.
Interracial mixing started to pick up in public places between the working class black women and white man. Dancing was apart of this mixing. After work or time off ,the working class “A.A.W” would go out dancing. They would go to clubs
