Steroids first came onto the scene sometime around the 1930’s. Originally they were tested on dogs, and the progressively began to get tested on World War II soldiers. They also were used on war prisoners as an attempt to keep them healthy as they were suffering from being malnourished. Flash forward about twenty years, a great amount of European athletes realized that steroids were a vital tool when it came to reaching their athletic goals. This soon lead to a whole new wave of athletic records, considering these people using the drug were experiencing a strength that had previously been unheard of. A few years later it became known by a man known as Dr. Zirgler, that testosterone was the single cause of such improved athletic strength and ability. Not long after this discovery, him and his partners began to produce Methandrostenolone and quickly made steroids accessible to any average Joe, as they were now for sale all over the nation. During this time, not only athletes but doctors as well, were using the drug on a regular basis. Sometime in the early 90’s, the Federal Anabolic Control Act was put into effect, labeling steroids as a schedule III drug and therefore making them illegal to consume without a prescription from a doctor. As of this act, the only way to get your hands on steroids without a medical excuse would be illegally through the black market. There are an unlimited amount of reasons why people continue to take steroids. Before looking at the side effects the drug might have on a person, they come off as a useful tool in medication.
