She told me that what motivated her and what she loved the absolute most was that she knows what she does really matters and makes a difference in the world. She felt that everyone she came in contact with left a little better than when they came in. She loved that she made a huge impact in the people’s lives that she served. She just loved being able to help people and the social interaction was a bonus. Betty did a lot of parenting classes throughout her career. She got to interact with all different types of people. Which she found to be very interesting, challenging, and a learning experience. Bettys dislike about her social work profession was she didn’t feel like she got enough respect for what she did, or enough credit for the line of work that she did. One of her favorites was when she was teaching a maternity clinic. She had learned throughout the clinic that three of the twenty girls had the same father to their children. The father of the babies showed up and the mother of one of the pregnant girls walked up to the father of daughter’s child and his balls and literally tried to rip them off. She said that even when she is old ad gray headed she will remember this. Another memorable moment was when she was doing HIV testing and the first person she had to tell that they were positive was the most heartbreaking and eye opening experience she ever had. It was eye opening because twenty years ago it was hard to find all the resources that they needed hear in our small town. The last memorable moment that Betty shared with me was when she received the reward for safe car seats. It was a competition of everyone in Oklahoma. She was excited that she was recognized as number one. I am so thankful that I got the opportunity to interview Betty Weber she is a pretty amazing woman. I learned so much from her. After talking with her I know that social work is my calling. I want to be a child welfare worker. After speaking with Betty I know that I will be excellent in this profession. I am absolutely in love with helping children. I couldn’t imagine my heart being anywhere else. I know that it is going to be challenging since I won’t only be working with children, I will
