While there is an instant drop in hourly rate, employees have the opportunity to receive more work hours and shifts, which effectively increases their overall earnings (Lewis 2014). It is also argued that the flat penalty rates at time-and-a-half for both Saturday and Sunday will enable small businesses to be more competitive as they achieve more adequate gross profit margin. With the research I have conducted, I believe that the Texas Roadhouse in College Station should pursue the following recommendations: Option 1: Adopt a biweekly schedule in order for employees to have more notice of when they work Even know it would take more time to make a schedule for two weeks at a time, the schedules would only have to be made twice a month and it would be a great improvement for the entire store. A biweekly schedule would give employees significantly more time to plan their week and plan homework and studying around their work schedules. This not only benefits the employees but also benefits the employer. Option 2: Continue using a weekly scheduling practice however release the schedule 3 to 4 days in advance Another…

The world we lives in views money as either a treasure or just something to blow their nose in. It all just depends on the person. I used to think that money was just a way for people to get what they want. However, after reading the article “The Gospel of Consumption And the better future we left behind” By Jeffery Kaplan, I think that money can be more than just giving and receiving. One point made in the article is that the Kellogg cereal company cut work hours from eight hours to six hours in 1930.…

For example, if a factory worker on assembly line worked 12 hour shifts he would become less accerate with the job duties needed to be preforemed. In a six hour shift the man working the same job and having the same tasks would produce more quality work because less hours were spent preforming the task;overall avoiding burnout. Less hours is a great solution in this case not only for the employee but the company as well, producing quality over quantity work hours.…
