In both of the poems, the girl does something with other men that anger their lovers. Both men are extremely jealous in this poem and like to have control of the women’s actions. In My Last Duchess the duke says “She smiled, no doubt, Whene’er I passed her; but who passed without Much the same smile?”(lines 43-44). Overall there are many more similarities between the two poems, because they both contain the same messages. The most important message revealed by Robert Browning is that sometimes guys can be controlling without even knowing it.
