Should American’s have the right to bear arms? The Second Amendment of the Constitution is "A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." If the government decided to take away guns this would shatter the Constitution that the country is built on. We would no longer be considered the land of the free.

In 1994 Bill Clinton signed a national ban on assault weapons into law. However, it did not affect all semiautomatic weapons. The law was put in effect to get rid of weapons and their attachments that can be used for mass shooting. This law was made under a sunset provisionary which means that the law will expire unless it is renewed ten years later. This massacre is therefore a further reminder of how easy it is for someone to get their hands on a weapon that lets them shoot people in a school, or in a house of worship, or a movie theater, or a nightclub. And to actively do nothing is a decision as well.” Even though there were efforts made to make it more difficult to purchase a gun in the country of America, no law was set. The gun the shooter used was a Sig Sauer MCX. A military weapon made only for U.S. Special Operation Forces. This gun was not built to go hunting with or to use as self-defense. The one and only purpose for this weapon is to kill human beings in close range situation at a fast and accurate rate. Many people blame this tragedy on the expiration of the Assault Weapon Ban of 2004. If it was still active the gunman would have not been able to buy the gun since the Ammo capacity exceeds 10, which means plenty of lives would of been saved. There has been no laws added since the shooting took place, showing how involved the government is trying to solve the problem.( by the Numbers) If the government would have kept the Assault Rifle ban, maybe there would not have been so many cases where the criminals would not have the
