After the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, federal law enforcement agencies have taken a forward leaning approach to these types of incidents by pushing resources into the field as quickly as possible. However, why do such tragic accidents still happen?
President Obama is currently trying to make some changes for gun regulation, but was unsuccessful in doing so. He says “Somehow this has become routine. The reporting is routine. My response here at this podium ends up being routine…become numb to this. This is a political choice that we make to allow this to happen every few months in America…” What is obstructing the decrease of gun shootings, or what are the measures that can be taken to prevent gun shootings? The first obstacle is economic and can be found in the National Rifle Association (NRA), namely the ongoing lobbying of the NRA. Currently the United States has invested annually, a tax of about $ 4.6 billion degrees from firearms distributors and firearms manufacturers have donated to the NRA money of $ 1 per gun.
