But then sudden changes in species quickly by allopatric speciation would leave very little transitional carcasses. Darwin discovered this by studying the finches, he discovered that the finches on the Galapagos Island were very similar to the finches on the coasts of South America. However there were some changes. These changes led him to believe in allopatric speciation and the rapidly changing characteristics to help the finches survive in the new climate. Shermer shared that it is a wonder that so many fossils survived because the organisms would have to die in a way that did not decompose their body, would survive years of war, and natural disasters, reaching fossilization and then finding ways to get back to the surface by letting an archaeologist find
