Senior Year Research Paper

Marcus Aurelius once said: “If you are pained by external things, it is not they that disturb you, but your own judgment of them. And it is in your power to wipe out that judgment now.” There are many dragons in every person’s life, they might not realize or notice it but when they do they try there best to defeat it. Not every person is capable of defeating his or her dragon; it takes strength, courage, and bravery. There are many dragons I would like to defeat. Some of them I know I could defeat them if I tried my best, and the others I wish I could. Senior year is a tough year for all students because it prepares them to be adults. They learn how to stand on their own in life. Students face many difficulties in this year such as studying, applying for college, or even looking for an apartment or house so they can start their own life. Each and every student finds senior classes harder because it is the last year in high school and they have to study hard to graduate. Throughout my life I have seen and been through so much a 40-year-old man cannot handle. I am a Syrian boy who moved to the United States 3 years ago. I was there during the war and I have seen people die in front of my own eyes. People getting kidnapped, bullied, burned, and shot in the streets. Things kept getting worse and worse, so my family and I moved to the United States. It was hard to make new friends, learn the language and most importantly move to a whole new place that has completely different traditions than what you have had. At first it was hard for me but I defeated that dragon and here I am living a normal
