They are responsible for making sure of who is absent or tardy for each day. They are also good for guidance, and advice for bullying or just any questions that you may have. The annual salary is usually around $50,000 a year. However depending on how well you do at this job you can get a lower or higher salary. The lowest salary that you can get is $30,000 a year. The highest salary that you can get is $80,000 a year. This job’s description is a vital member of the education team. It is required that they work 5 ½ hours a day unless you work offtime. Also I am pretty sure that there is a School Counselor in every city, and if there is not, the people in that town probably do not have a very good education. Another thing is that this work is done inside. Being inside is also a pretty good benefit considering that there is air conditioning. You might be wondering what the good things and bad things are about the job. Well for one good thing, you are supposed to get some pretty good vacation time. Another benefit of the job is the social interaction of it. You spend the day helping out with problems and giving advice. A bad thing however, is there never seeming to be enough time ( time consuming ). Another drawback is having to do all of the scheduling, and not to mention the conferences. Honestly, I think that being a school counselor would be fun. I really like to work with people and help them out. Back when I was in fifth grade, I was one of the smarter kids. In math, me and a few others would always be the first ones to get done with things. One day when we did not have anything else to do, our teacher let us tutor some of the other students. It was then and there that I found my passion for helping out. I had always wondered if there was a job where you could help others like that, and a School Counselor fits that description pretty well.
