For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to be involved with something that has to do with grass. Growing up in the rural area of Southwest Virginia, mowing lawns is something that is commonly done by most residents and is often taught at a young age. When I was younger I always wanted to help my father mow the yard. I would get up in his lap and steer the wheel with him. It was moments like these that helped spark my love for mowing and yard work. As soon as I was big enough to reach the pedal on my own I started mowing our own yard. After that I was hooked! Recently I was given the opportunity to work at Glenrochie Country Club in Abingdon, Virginia, and it was just a dream come true. I’ve been talking to my boss and told him, “that I would like to go to college for this”. He told me that he attended Virginia Tech and went through the Agricultural Technology Program. …show more content…
I am a very hard worker, and I don’t quit until the job gets done. Virginia Tech is roughly two hours away from my home, and it would be an honor to attend such a prestigious school without sacrificing being distant from my family. My family would easily be able to come visit me. That would be the world to me if my parents could come visit me at a close University like Virginia Tech.
Being a student of this program would be a dream come true if I was given the opportunity to pursue an education in that department. If given an opportunity to continue my education at Virginia Tech, it would turn me into a better student and build up my work ethic. Virginia Tech has an outstanding reputation for quality education, and I believe that I can become a better individual through the academic opportunity and rigors it provides. I will finally be able to learn how to mow and work on professional sports

Well it has been almost 4 months that I have been attending Roanoke Valley Early College. I love it here and I don’t see how anyone couldn’t. So far I have learned a lot about school. By taking time to observe my surroundings and everyone around me, I have learned that everyone in high school is not your friend and that I am learning how to sense a bad vibe before I let anyone get too close to me. RVEC is the only school that has taught me that all teachers are not these people that hate their job because the teachers here including the ones I don’t take yet are always showing us that they really want to be there and help us and teach us.…

Since I have moved to Blacksburg, Virginia Tech has truly been the only university that my eyes and ears have been open to. There is also the fact that the Hokie Birds scattered all through Main Street, and the amount of people in my school sporting Tech gear, is difficult to ignore. What attracted me to Virginia Tech first and foremost, was the sporting. The students around me always got excited for the games, and I personally enjoyed seeing Burnt orange and Chicago maroon all over Blacksburg. The way the students and the community came together during sports made me happy and I couldn’t help but feel pride in living in Blacksburg.…

I decided to attend Florida A&M University (FAMU) for a variety of reasons, including the location of its campus, because I was offered a full scholarship, and of course, because of the pharmacy program. Moreover, I believe that I am the ideal candidate for being a part of FAMU’s pharmacy program. To begin, FAMU is located in Tallahassee, Florida, a city that I had wanted to attend college in since I was in elementary school. Tallahassee is a city of containing and surrounded by many events and opportunities, so no matter your preferred “scene,” you are likely to be able to find something you do. Another upside to FAMU’s location is that it also places me very close to my mother and the rest of my maternal family, who I had previously not gotten to see almost since elementary school.…

Now, before I go any further, I must admit: I hated mowing at first. How were we supposed to get to work at 3:30 and do a full days worth of yards in just five hours? I’ll tell you exactly how: we showed up, and mowed until all of the jobs were completed. Thank goodness we did this, because it slowly began to teach me the value of knitty-gritty, don’t stop until the job is done work ethic. But, fortunately, those long, work until dark days would soon be behind me; mowing was about to get better.…
