Sarah Palin: A Collapsed Souffle

I agree completely with both authors that Sarah Palin was not ready for Vice President of the United States. She came off as a babbling, backwoods idiot who didn’t know how to dress or talk. Although, I’m sure she was smarter than either of the authors gave her credit for. She was a conservative and both of the authors wrote for liberal papers.
Cal Thomas, in “Sarah Palin: A Collapsed Souffle,” talked about how Palin was all fluff and nothing else. He actually compared her to a souffle that she is light and fluffy and falls when under pressure. Where in “It’s Settled: Palin is Unfit For Office”,by Richard Cohen. Cohen thesis was practically the same as Thomas that she was not ready to be in the office. They both thought that she provided material for comedians, such as Tina Fey from Saturday Night Live. Both Thomas and Cohen felt that it was an unwise decision made by John McCain. Another comparison was when

They both knew she was the last person McCain wanted for his Vice President. The two articles even relate to what is going on today about how Palin is endorsing Donald Trump. Tina Fey was back on the Saturday Night Live making fun of her. The whole world is making fun of the way she talks and just the way she says stuff isn’t intelligent.
Thomas’ article was published in the Salt Lake Tribune and Cohen’s article was printed in the Washington Post, which is practically on the opposite side of the nation. Both are pretty liberal papers. You wouldn’t think that the Salt Lake Tribune would be such a liberal paper since it is in the conservative state of Utah. In the past few years it has even become more liberal causing it to lose readers. You would expect the Washington Post to be a liberal paper. Both Cohen and Thomas write from a liberal’s view point. It is no wonder they were not fond of Sarah Palin and her conservative

This week I chose an article called Huckabee: There Better Not Be Doritos at Your Super Bowl Party by Kelly Frazier. The article discusses presidential candidate Mike Huckabee's distaste for Frito Lay's partnership with the It Gets Better Project which is aimed at fighting anti-LGBT bullying and giving hope to those who are being harassed. People who donated to the It Gets Better Project would receive via mail a limited edition bag of Frito Lay's Rainbow Doritos. According to the article Mike Huckabee's issue is that Frito Lay is affiliated with Dan Savage however nothing else is mentioned. Thanks to an article from ABC News I found out that Huckabee and Dan Savage have had a tumultuous relationship for several years.…

She found that Americans are the least likely to talk about politics with people who will disagree with them. Americans don’t accept the other parties’ views and just say they are dumb and don’t have a clue because they live in areas with people who have the same opinions. If one person thinks Obama is a horrible president, there is a good chance their neighbors think that too because we like to surround ourselves with people who act and think the same as us. The United States has turned into one giant feedback loop.…

Robert W. Merry, editor and author of The American Conservative” wrote articles like “Trump’s Health Care Debacle” and other articles that deals with presidents and their history. In the article, he claims that Trump and Ryan are not capable to be dealing with healthcare because of their lack of knowledge on the market which creates disorder in the subject. Merry supports this claim by providing contrasting relationships between Trump and past presidents, like Nixon and Clinton, to show how past presidents are more experienced in the market than Trump and Trump should have some knowledge since he’s president. He targets the people of America because he wants the people to see what Trump is doing with health care and how he is causing harm due…

It was the summer of 1789 and the Constitutional Convention had just finished its debate on a new governing document, which would be imperfect but audacious for it’s time. As, he walked down the streets of Philadelphia that day, Dr. Benjamin Franklin was stopped by a woman, who asked, “Sir, what form of government have you bequeath us?” to which Dr. Franklin replied, “a Republic, if you can keep it.” 227 years later, through a fratricidal war, the stains of slavery and Jim Crow, two world wars, and countless financial crisis’, through both the highs and lows of the American story, I believe it safe to say that we have done exactly what Dr. Franklin implored us to do in so long ago in 1789. However, 2016 presented us with new challenges in what…

During the time leading up to the Revolution, tensions ran high among both the government and civilians. Factions of groups, Patriots, Rebels and even housewives, were making their voices heard throughout the community. Two of the most powerful writers during the time were Thomas Paine, the son of a Quaker, and Mercy Otis Warren, the daughter of a farmer, attorney, and eventual member of the House of Representatives, Colonel Otis. Although from two separate walks of life, both writers had a hand in shaping America into what she is today. Thomas Paine 's most memorable works, Common Sense, not only impacted high and lowborn alike, it earned him an honorable spot as one of the Founding Fathers of The United States.…

Mr. Krugman effectively makes his argument for Hillary as a valid presidential candidate in his opinion piece “Actually Existing Hillary”. In his article he describes Hillary as having what should be well known strengths and not being the “horrible figure” or “dominant figure” that she is portrayed as in the media. Even though I disagree with his argument and support for Hillary as president, he makes a persuasive argument in her defense while incorporating some humor at the expense of the Republican candidates. In the opinion piece “Actually Existing Hillary” (2015), Paul Krugman argues that Hillary Clinton is a “… qualified, plausible candidate for president.”…

This editorial reminds me of a childhood bully. The definition of bullying is to use influence to intimidate someone as teasing, name calling, stereotyping, fighting, and exclusion, spreading rumor, public shaming and aggressive intimidation. This comedian displayed this behavior in his assumption of Barron Trump. He should be held accountable for his poor response and his tasteless behavior. Regardless of whom a person is or even who they may be related to we should show respect for one another.…

The documentary, Miss Representation, focuses on the stereotypical images of women in the media, and the society that creates them. The title itself shows how women specifically are misrepresented in weight, age, and more within popular media. The media solely represents young, thin, scantily clad women so as to become an object of sexual desire and to keep women from having any other power in society. Women who do not portray these sexualized features and traits are purposefully kept out of the media, and when they are portrayed, they are shunned and treated as degenerates. Models in magazines and billboards are photoshopped to match a ideal of “thin” beauty, which even they could not achieve, and are presented as models of what young girls…
