Maximilien Robespierre Maximilien Robespierre was born May 6th, 1758, in France. After the loss of his mom when he was just six years old his dad left the family and he was raised by his grandparents. After earning a law degree in 1781 he took on the public role of calling for changes in the French monarchy. He gained a reputation of defending the poorest society and earned the nickname “The Incorruptible” at the age of thirty he was estates general for France. He became popular for his monarchy attacks as he opposed the death penalty and slavery.
