As a result of this boycott, the Parliament was furious at Boston for the damage to their tea, intolerable acts were placed on Boston in 1774, Boston Harbor was closed until colonists paid for the damage, King George III appointed a new governor, colony was put under military control, town meetings were banned, they protected British officials accused of crimes in the colonies, and this boycott inspired other boycotts or protests.
