Aggressive Driving/Road Rage Paper Aggressive driving has been a problem on our roadways for a while, and it seems to only be getting worse. Incidents of screaming, rude gestures, and sometimes even violence are reported frequently on the road and have come up with the name: road rage. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration defines road rage as when a driver "commits moving traffic offenses so as to endanger other persons or property; an assault with a motor vehicle or other dangerous weapon by the operator or passenger of one motor vehicle on the operator or passengers of another motor vehicle". If you find that you have agitated another driver, whether the fault is truly yours or not, do not react to the other driver on the road. First, the signs of road rage include many things. One of most common signs of road rage is careless driving such as tailgating, cutting others off, or not using signals. Aggressive driving is truly dangerous. First, if it gets out of hand it can cause violence and harm to others on the streets. The person that has road rage can get pulled over if they are putting another person in dangers way. According to the article, a WSP's Aggressive Driving Apprehension Team (ADAT) program is a proactive effort to locate and arrest those drivers who drive aggressively. The ADAT program uses unmarked/unconventional police vehicles equipped with mobile video cameras to detect and apprehend the aggressive driver.
