When you are allowed more responsibility, you are starting to come of age. Some responsibilities can be hard, like turning 18 and voting, but some can be easy, like tying your own shoes. You are entrusted with more responsibilities in your life quite often. These can sometimes be stressful, like transferring from the elementary to the middle school, going to college, and trying to get a career started. Going to middle school can be difficult if you come from a elementary school where you only switch between 2 classes. In middle school you only have a little bit of time to switch between your many classes. You have to stay incredibly organized to stay on top of yourself. You also have to deal with the massive amounts of homework that you …show more content…
This can bring on a lot of stress. You may have to work long hours at your job after being at school all day to earn money for gas or rent. You may also have to study for long hours on end without social time with your friends. This can be very stressful if on top of it you are trying to get into a good collage. The little social time can also cause a lot of stress.

Older teens say that they do not spend a lot of time with their friends. They are more stressed on homework and studying than hanging out with their friends. They could also be stressed because of working at a job so long after a long day of schooling.
Being stressed can hurt your health. It causes more anxiety and depression than you would have without stress. The medical director at the University of California said,” Over the last 3 years, there has been a 20% increase in students seeking help for anxiety or depression.
