Europeans were the only people that fully benefited throughout the entire ordeal. They would not have continued the trade if it was not beneficial. Slavery was one of the main causes for a civil war! If it was not so amazingly advantageous, they would not have written it into the constitution and continued to live off of it for centuries. African-Americans have never earned as much as white Americans. Over twenty percent of us live below the poverty line (Chrisman and Allen 369). It is the same with education. Blacks have not been properly educated since slavery began, and this has bled over into modern times. African-Americans are also incarcerated at a much higher rate than other Americans, not just because of prejudice, but also because of the environment they are forced to live in.
