Through detailed knowledge concerning the diseases that the patient suffers and the risk factors for these diseases a nurse can apply the health promotion and prevention techniques and avoid complications in patients. A doctor must explain to a nurse the treatment, the possible adverse effects and the complications that the patients can develop, while the nurse will be responsible for the compliance of the procedure, the monitoring of the adverse reactions and the evolution of the patients. The general medical practitioners can help to increase the knowledge flow of nurses, both theoretically and in practice. Through interprofessional bedside rounds, updates on the topics most frequently handled in daily practice, bibliographic reviews, and visits for educational purposes the nurses can participate dynamically in the learning process, and in turn, it allows to improve the relationships of nurse-physician teamwork (Henkin et al., 2016). Nurses are actively involved, so they also deliberate the problems of the patient from the nursing perspective, as well as discuss the treatment alternatives proposed by the different parties that are participating in the comprehensive care of the patient.
