Women today feel like they must keep up with their appearances or they will be judged and criticized by people around them. This puts a tremendous amount of pressure on women of all ages to maintain an unrealistic expectations of beauty. Real beauty comes from within and people should begin teaching this to our children at a young age instead of programing young minds to think that physical beauty is more important than inner beauty, as well as teaching them that you must appear attractive in order to achieve power and status in life. Women have felt like objects since the beginning of time and have gone to extreme lengths to maintain their idea of what beauty should be. The majority of women believe that they must be young, white, and most importantly, thin to be beautiful. This has led to an enormous amount of women who have developed serious eating disorders such as bulimia or anorexia. These disorders can be very serious and sometimes deadly. Daughters of working mothers are now becoming more successful than ever before and sons of working mothers are contributing to the household more than ever before. There are many reasons for this, but they revolve around witnessing a successful, hardworking mother who was able to provide for their families, and thus changing the children’s way of thinking. According to Ananya Bhattacharya from CNN “Daughters of working mothers grow up to be more successful in the workplace than their peers” and “Sons of working mothers are more likely to grow up contributing to the childcare and household chores” (Bhattacharya). I think that it is very influential for all children to witness their mothers work at some point in time so they are able to contribute more to this changing society. Working or raising a family should be a personal choice that should not be judged either
