Discrimination hurts everyone and it is up to everybody in our society to get rid of it. While reading I noticed a comic strip in the book, “Women’s Voices Feminists Visions ”(Horacek, 2014, Discourse, Power, and Knowledge), shows how some people feel like the issues certain people go through is not their personal issue, even though it is. It shows how people feel as if systems of inequality do not still exist. They feel if the discrimination is not happening to them, then it none of their concern. It shows how stereotypes, ideologies, sexism harm our society and affects everything and everyone. In the book “Full Frontal Feminism”, (Valenti, 2014, Chapter 3), they discuss all the contradictions our society tells girls. I agree with the author on how society wants us to be two things at the same time. It gives women an unrealistic vision to live up to. I feel as if women should not have to live up to society’s double standard. We should all just live our lives and enjoy who and what we are. We should live how we want to and do what makes us happy. We need to stop trying to live up to society’s standards of life and simply
