Brief background information
On 7th of July 2012 while Thomas Kelly was having a night out with his girlfriend, Loveridge found him and punched Thomas head without warning. That punch hit near the nose area, which forced Thomas to fall backward onto the pavement. Loveridge and Thomas were unknown to each other, and the attack was random and unplanned. After Kelly had been taken to the St. Vincent’s Hospital, the hospital staff found out Kelly had bleeding inside the cranial and a severe skull fracture after a cranial scan of Thomas’ head. At 7:30 Loveridge arrived at Star City Casino with his friend where they had drunk alcohol. Then they moved to Cargo Bar located in Darling Harbour, but the security had denied their access to the bar. Loveridge and his friend decided to move from bar to bar to drink more alcohol. Afterwards, the group took a taxi to Brougham Street in King Cross and continued consuming alcohol in different bars.
Following the drinking feast, Loveridge seemed to be agitated and highly strung. At 9:45 pm, the first attack took place on Victoria Street when Mr Compagnoni (Marco Compagnoni) met with Loveridge. When they walked past one another, Loveridge abruptly elbowed Compagnoni‘s left eye and resulted in blood dropping out of Compagnoni‘s left eye. At 10:15 pm, after the assault on Kelly, the third victim, David Nofoaluma, was strolling on Bayswater Road. Loveridge tried to swing at Nofoaluma’s head, but stopped by one of his friends and apologised.
Sooner or later, Loveridge also assaulted three other male victims: Matthew Serrao, Rhyse Saliba and Aden Gazi. All the victims that night are unknown to Loveridge when the assault occurred except David Nofoaluma.
