Holocaust is a word that comes from a Greek word origin meaning “sacrifice by fire.” Germans were believed to be “racially superior” (The Holocaust- World War II), and Jews were threats to their economy and government. Obviously, the Jewish people were NOT the cause of German loss in WWI but was only justified through propaganda usage by the Nazis. After release from prison in 1925, Hitler spoke of racial purity and a more unified Germany which caught the German citizen’s disillusionment. Hitler exhorted the fact that the only race to be blamed for Germany’s economic decline were the Jewish people. Obviously, the Jews were not to be blamed for the start of World War I and the death of many German soldiers making this one of the examples of propaganda used in the Holocaust. In 1929, the Great Depression devastated Germany’s economy and Hitler took the opportunity to rise in power.
In July 1932, the German elections were held and Hitler ran for president. He was not successful in winning but his popularity and gifted speaking talent was favored and President Paul von Hindenburg appointed him as chancellor, or leader of the government, in January 1933. “They captured 230 out of 608 seats in the “Reichstag,” or German parliament. In January 1933, Hitler was appointed German chancellor and his Nazi government soon came to control every aspect of German life” (Nazi Party- World War
